.
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has assured all stakeholders in the December 7 elections that its personnel will not be deployed to any polling station.

According to GAF, the personnel will only serve as a standby force.

GAF wishes to reiterate that no military personnel will be stationed at any polling station. GAF’s presence will be limited to standby support, with the primary responsibility for election security remaining with the Ghana Police Service (GPS)
a press release dated December 6 and signed by the Director-General of Public Relations, Brigadier General E. Aggrey-Quashie explained.

He added that,
The military will only be deployed upon request by the GPS. This collaborative approach ensures that the elections proceed smoothly and peacefully while maintaining law and order.

The GAF urged the public “not to be apprehensive if they see the movement of military personnel in their localities.”

GAF wishes to once again encourage all Ghanaians to exercise their civic rights responsibly, cooperate with security personnel and refrain from any acts that could disrupt the peace
Brigadier General Aggrey-Quashie cautioned.

GAF reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the stability and sovereignty of the nation whilst protecting the integrity of the election process.
