Akuffo-Addo will get all entitlements regardless of how bad Mahama was treated – Joyce Bawah

.
Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Special Aide to former President John Mahama, has declared that former President Akufo-Addo will receive what the constitution stipulates should be granted to him.

Speaking on GHOne TV with Serwaa Amihere, Joyce Bawa addressed the controversial issue surrounding the post-presidency treatment of her boss, President John Mahama. She emphasized that President Akufo-Addo would indeed receive the benefits outlined by the constitution, as it is his entitlement, and that this should be the norm for all former presidents.

Reflecting on the treatment of President Mahama after he left office, Joyce Bawa stated that while the events that transpired were “embarrassing” and “regrettable,” they should serve as a lesson for the future.

However, she acknowledged the sacrifices made by individuals who serve as president, highlighting that it requires immense dedication and commitment to lead the country. She further expressed her belief that it would not be excessive for the state to offer former presidents a house or two after their tenure.

“President Akufo-Addo will certainly be getting what the constitution says we should give him—whatever the recommendations are. What happened to Mr. Mahama, embarrassing as it was and still is, I hope we don’t repeat those sorts of mistakes.”

“People come to the presidency and they actually sacrifice a great deal. Having served Mr. Mahama all these years, it takes a lot to serve Ghana as president. For the citizens to offer the former president one house or two, I think, is not too much to ask.

“What Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia did to John Mahama is a matter that will forever live in the books of history. Unfortunate, regrettable, and unnecessary as it was, I’m delighted that we came out of it.”
