Akufo-Addo was arrogant to command chiefs to get up and greet him- Musah Superior

.
Former Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Forestry Commission, Iddrisu Musah Superior, has described former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as a very proud and arrogant person.

According to him, the attitude demonstrated by the former president, commanding some chiefs to stand up and greet him on official assignments, was disgusting.

“ How do you go out there and tell chiefs to stand up and greet you? I think it was arrogance because if you have the audacity to tell chiefs to stand up and greet you, it means you have lost your values.” He lashed out at the former President in an interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com

He argued that no person from a traditional home would disrespect chiefs as was in the case of the former President.

“ There’s nobody who does not come from a traditional area and you need to respect our chiefs. If a chief doesn’t get up and greet you just greet them and continue with the purpose you visited them. But we saw forcefully and angrily the way he was instructing chiefs with his bodyguard leading the activity for the Chiefs to get up and greet him and people didn’t like that behaviour.” He bemoaned

The former Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) outburst follows controversy generated on social media regarding the alleged disrespect of the former president during his regime.

It would be recalled that early last year, a viral video from a funeral in the Ashanti Region showed the then-president instructing a chief to stand up before shaking hands with him.

In the video, the chief, who was sitting, reached out his hand to greet the president. However, Akufo-Addo was visibly displeased with the chief’s seated position.

Initially extending his hand in response, Akufo-Addo withdrew it upon realizing the chief was not standing.

He then reprimanded the chief, who complied and stood up to greet him, though the president still seemed unsatisfied.

This incident echoes a May 2024 incident in which Akufo-Addo was criticized for taking a similar action at a funeral event.

In a short video, the president and his bodyguard were seen signaling for chiefs to stand before greeting them.

In one instance, Akufo-Addo gestured for a seated chief to rise before greeting him, sparking controversy.

The Ministry for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs defended the president’s action, stating that he did nothing wrong.
