Bagbin to summon Emeafa Hardcastle over clash with Annoh-Dompreh

.
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has announced plans to summon the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Commission, Emeafa Hardcastle, for questioning on Thursday, January 30, 2025, following an alleged altercation with Nsawam Adoagyiri MP, Frank Annoh-Dompreh.

The decision comes after a widely circulated video showed a confrontation between Annoh-Dompreh and Hardcastle during a recess at the Appointments Committee’s vetting session on January 28.

Annoh-Dompreh formally petitioned the Speaker, calling for consequential actions and requesting the formation of the Privileges Committee, describing the incident as an unprovoked attack on his reputation as a legislator.

In response, Speaker Bagbin confirmed Hardcastle’s scheduled appearance and pledged to update the House on the matter by Friday, January 31.

“By Friday, I will revert to the House. I hope this is acceptable to the House,” the Speaker stated.

Tamale South MP and Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, strongly condemned Hardcastle’s conduct, calling for a public apology and retraction.

Meanwhile, Comfort Doyoe, Leader of the Women’s Caucus in Parliament and First Deputy Whip of the Majority Group urged Annoh-Dompreh to withdraw his petition as she works to resolve the issue.
