Free SHS ended even before Akufo-Addo exited power—Dev’t Economist

.
Development Economist, Michael Ayamga Adongo has opined that the Free SHS programme instituted by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration ended even before the former President left office.

His comments come on the back of CHASS’ calls on parents to provide their wards with enough food when they are going back to school.

CHASS has explained that there is no supply of food in the various senior high Schools such that some schools have to ration and therefore urged parents to support their wards with food as they try their best to ensure that the students are fed with the little supply they have at the moment.

Commenting on this position by CHASS, Michael Ayamga Adongo indicated that if parents have to now pay for feeding their wards, it is clear that the programme implemented by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration died with the administration.

He has urged the President to relaunch the programme as he intends to review it in order to streamline things.

In several posts shared via social media he said “We will set the record straight. Lay down the bare facts. It is our responsibility to get this image engraved in the minds of Ghanaians. FREE SHS ENDED BEFORE AKUFFO ADDO LEFT OFFICE!!!! It will be restored and improved”.

Adding that “With parents now paying for feeding, FSHS has ended & President Mahama can relaunch it just like the teacher trainee allowances”.
