Mahama appoints Randy Abbey as acting CEO for Ghana Cocoa Board

The announcement, made in a formal letter dated January 21, 2025, from the Office of the President, was signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was made by President John Dramani Mahama in line with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 12(2) of the Ghana Cocoa Board Act, 1984 (P.N.D.C.L. 81). The decision is pending consultation with the Public Services Commission and advice from the Board of the Ghana Cocoa Board.
In the letter, the President extended his congratulations to Dr. Abbey, emphasizing the importance of the role in steering Ghana’s cocoa industry, a vital pillar of the nation’s economy.
Key stakeholders such as the Vice President, Chief of Staff, Minister of Finance, Minister of Food and Agriculture, and the Board Chairman of the Ghana Cocoa Board were all copied in the correspondence, highlighting the significance of the appointment.
