.
In a bold move to streamline government operations and enhance efficiency, President John Dramani Mahama has announced a significant reorganization of the cabinet, reducing the number of ministries from 30 to 23.

This decision is part of his broader strategy to create a leaner and more effective government structure.

Several ministries have been scrapped or merged as part of this reorganisation.

The Ministry of Information has been scrapped and its functions will now fall under the Ministry of Communication.

The Ministry of Water and Sanitation has also been scrapped, with water-related responsibilities being added to the Ministry of Works and Housing, and sanitation duties being transferred to the Ministry of Local Government.

The Ministry of Railways and the Ministry of National Security have both been scrapped.

In a move to better address the needs of the youth, the Ministry of Sports and Youth has been separated into two distinct entities: the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation.

Additionally, the Ministry of Chieftaincy has been scrapped, with its responsibilities now falling under the Ministry of Local Government.
