Techiman South: Mensah Korsah confirmed winner after recount

.
Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, has retained his parliamentary seat for Techiman South following a court-mandated re-collation of results conducted at the Electoral Commission’s (EC) regional office in Accra.

Korsah secured 46,663 votes, defeating Christopher Bayere Basongti of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who polled 43,429 votes.

This declaration comes in the wake of a High Court directive in Accra, which ordered the EC to finalize results in several constituencies, including Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, Ablekuma North, and Techiman South, by January 6, 2025. The court’s decision followed mandamus applications filed by NPP candidates to ensure transparency and the completion of outstanding collation processes.

Earlier, Charles Forson of the NPP was declared the winner for the Tema Central constituency after a recount of two outstanding polling stations, reinforcing the importance of thorough and accurate collation in determining election outcomes.

Korsah’s victory cements his position as the representative for Techiman South and underscores the High Court’s role in ensuring fairness and accountability in the electoral process.
