“I will leave Ghana to Togo” comment was just a political gimmick – Maurice Ampaw

.
Private legal practitioner, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw, has finally opened up about his claims of leaving Ghana if John Dramani Mahama is voted back to power.

According to him, his comments were part of the political game and that he will not go to Togo, which is far behind in development than Ghana is.

He just wanted to get the base of the New Patriotic Party to turn out in their numbers to vote to keep John Dramani Mahama in opposition.

The lawyer said he has lived in Ghana all his life and won’t trade Ghana for any other country.

He indicated that John Dramani Mahama winning the election has taught him a lesson that everything is possible if you put your mind to it.

Lawyer Maurice Ampaw was speaking on GTV Ghana when he made this known.

“NDC has won, and you know, during the campaign, I was on the side of Bawumia, and I did a lot of harm to the NDC, and I made a lot of political statements. I said if Mahama wins, I will leave to Togo, and I will not go because Ghana is far better than Togo, but it is part of the political game. I was trying to say that it is not possible for Mahama to come.

As I sit here, I don’t even have a passport; I’ve not travelled before, and I have lived in Ghana for 57 years of my life so for me to say that I will leave to Togo was a political gimmick trying to ginger the people that look, let’s make it happen, but at the end of the day Mahama proved to me that everything is possible,” he told GTV
