ECG missing containers: Indian Businessman under investigation as 40 are retrieved
.
Speaking on TV3’s News Central on Thursday, March 27, Jinapor revealed that national security operatives traced the containers to a warehouse in Kpone, owned by an Indian businessman.
“The briefing I got this morning… the information I got is that already they’ve traced about 40 of them to a particular terminal warehouse in Kpone which belonged to an Indian man, and they have confiscated all the 40 containers and moved them to a secured location,” he stated.
According to the minister, the businessman claimed he purchased the containers last year, a claim that law enforcement agencies are investigating. He further assured that intelligence efforts are ongoing to track the remaining missing containers and bring those responsible to justice.
Jinapor also issued a strong warning against attempts to politicize the investigations. “Let me just say that when we start prosecuting these people, let no one say that this is witch-hunting. These are properties of the state, and we will use every legitimate means to ensure that we retrieve them,” he cautioned.
