Two police officers implicated in leaked tape scandal reassigned

.
Two senior police officers: Superintendent George Lysander Asare and Superintendent Emmanuel Eric Gyebi, who were implicated in a leaked tape scandal, have been reassigned.

Asare and Gyebi will now serve at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters and the Judicial Protection Unit respectively.

The reassignment is part of a larger reshuffle that saw 84 senior police officers moved to various positions across the country.

According to myjoyonline.com, the posting of Asare and Gyebi has raised eyebrows, as they were previously implicated in a plot to remove former Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare.

The two officers appeared before a parliamentary committee to answer questions about their professionalism and adherence to Ghana Police Service regulations.

The committee later recommended disciplinary actions against them.

However, myjoyonline sources within the police service have perceived the reassignments as promotions rather than disciplinary actions.

COP George Alex Mensah, who was also implicated in the controversy, has since retired from the police service.

He recently urged the Inspector General of Police to address unfair promotions within the service.
