The government has officially dissolved the National Cathedral Secretariat, effectively halting operations on the ambitious project initiated by former President Nana Akufo-Addo as a national Christian worship center and symbol of Ghana’s religious heritage.

The move signals a major shift in the government’s approach to the controversial initiative, which has been plagued by public criticism and allegations of financial mismanagement and corruption.

The project, once championed as a monumental expression of faith and unity, has faced growing scrutiny over its execution and the handling of funds.

Confirming the government’s new position, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications, in an interview with Channel One TV, stated that the state would no longer allocate resources to the now-abandoned National Cathedral project.
