Ashanti region: GMA condemns attack on Chairman’s residence

.
The Ashanti Division of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has called for police protection for its Chairman, Dr. (Med) Paa Kwesi Baidoo, and his family following an alleged assault on his home by unidentified attackers.

In a statement issued on Thursday, December 19, the GMA Ashanti Division denounced the incident, describing it as a “wicked and callous act” that jeopardized the safety of Dr. Baidoo’s family.

The statement detailed that at approximately 7:00 PM on Wednesday, December 18, unknown individuals trespassed onto Dr. Baidoo’s property and vandalized a large tree in the yard.

The GMA narrated that the tree subsequently collapsed onto the house, damaging the roof and several personal belongings while trapping the doctor’s wife and son inside.

The GMA has called for an immediate investigation into the matter, demanding the apprehension and prosecution of those responsible, as well as compensation for Dr Baidoo’s family for the damages and emotional distress incurred.

Additionally, they have requested police protection for the Chairman and his family during the ongoing investigation.

“In the interim, the members of the Division demand the provision of Police protection for our Chairman and his family as investigations continue. As a law-abiding Association, we resolve to give our able Police enough time and space for them to work to apprehend the culprits.”
