The collation for the Ablekuma North constituency has been called off due to alleged vandalism linked to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which resulted in the ransacking of the collation centre at the Greater Accra Regional Office of the Electoral Commission.

The Electoral Commission was scheduled to resume the collation of parliamentary election results for the Ablekuma North constituency on Friday, January 17, 2025.

However, the process was interrupted when more than 40 individuals stormed the venue, demanding that everyone vacate the premises and vandalize property, including louvre blades and doors.

Eyewitnesses reported that the incident occurred as media personnel and officials were waiting for the process to begin.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, raising concerns about the security of the collation process and the integrity of the electoral outcome in the constituency.

Authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the incident, and it is unknown whether any arrests have been made.

The collation, which had already been delayed multiple times, was expected to take place at the old head office of the Electoral Commission (EC) in Ridge, Greater Accra, on Friday.

The process has faced setbacks since January 8, 2025, when the Returning Officer, Vincent Obeng, resigned following disputes over the authentication of pink sheets. At the time, Obeng had indicated that the collation was nearly complete, with results from four out of seven remaining polling stations finalized.
