Dumsor: NDC caught in its own propaganda and lies – Assafuah

.
The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has criticised the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing the party of struggling to effectively govern due to its reliance on falsehoods and political propaganda during their campaign.

According to Assafuah, the NDC’s rise to power was not rooted in solid governance plans or realistic promises, but instead was fueled by deception, leaving them ill-prepared to tackle the realities of leading the nation.

Assafuah’s remarks came in the wake of a controversial statement made by John Jinapor, the MP for Yapei Kusawgu, during the inauguration of President John Dramani Mahama in Accra on Tuesday, January 7, 2024.

In his speech, Jinapor, who is Minister-Designate for Energy, warned the public that Ghana was dangerously low on fuel for power generation, claiming that the country had only five hours worth of fuel left to sustain the national grid.

However, Assafuah, speaking on The Big Issue on Channel One TV on Saturday, January 11, challenged Jinapor’s claim, pointing out that more than 48 hours had passed since the statement was made, and the country’s electricity supply had remained uninterrupted.

This, according to Assafuah, proved that Jinapor’s warning about a critical shortage of fuel was not only exaggerated but was, in fact, a misleading and false statement.

“We were all here when John Jinapor who is now the Minister-Designate for Energy made a comment that the fuel capacity that we have is going to last for only 5 hours.

“Now, since that time, we have already past about 48 hours and our lights are still on and so that is a lie and so these guys should understand that they are no longer in opposition and they have assumed power with lies and propaganda and now the reality is facing them and they seem not to understand that they have to govern.”
