Everyone must go – Kennedy Agyapong’s brother demands mass resignation of NPP executives

.
Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary hopeful of the Bantama Constituency, Ralph Agyapong, has called for a mass resignation of all national executives of the party.

According to Ralph, who is a brother and legal counsel to former NPP flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, it is imperative for the executives to leave office following the abysmal performance of the party in the 2024 general elections.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was President of Ghana and he led us into opposition. The NPP must ask ourselves, when has it ever happened before that we received only 38%? It has never happened. If the NPP is interested in power, every executive must resign,” he stated during an interview on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia morning show.

He added “If you are in power and you want to break the 8, your minimum should be 45%. But to send us to 38%, no, please. It is imperative for all of them to resign."

On the issue of reorganising the party, Ralph stressed the need for the NPP to embark on a massive reformation of the party’s internal structures but reiterated his call for the resignation of party officers.

“We need to undertake reforms. The reforms are already underway and everyone is bringing their suggestions, but as for the executives, all of them must resign,” he stated.

In the 2024 presidential election, John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won with a significant lead.

He secured 56.55% of the total valid votes, totaling 6,328,397 votes. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) received 41.61% of the votes, amounting to 4,657,304 votes.

Other candidates together garnered 1.84% of the votes, with a total of 205,721 votes.

On the parliamentary front, the NDC claimed a significant majority with 183 seats against the NPP’s 88. Four seats were won by independent candidates, while the Ablekuma North seat remains outstanding.
