’I’m not afraid of ORAL because I’m not corrupt’ – Fatimatu Abubakar
.
She stated that she has not been involved in any corrupt activities and, therefore, has no reason to fear being indicted by the ORAL committee.
Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo on January 25, 2025, she affirmed her integrity, emphasising that she neither offers nor accepts bribes.
“By the grace of God, if you ask me a question about corruption, I don’t even have to think about it because I don’t take bribes, and I don’t give bribes. I am not corrupt and haven’t taken anyone’s money. I am not afraid of ORAL, OPAL—whatever. You can’t go after former appointees and leave your appointees,” she said.
During the same program, Abubakar also condemned the post-election violence that has erupted in certain parts of the country, allegedly involving some party members.
She strongly criticised recent incidents of attacks on individuals and expressed concern about the lawlessness exhibited by some groups following the elections.
“Ghana is a country of laws. If, after the elections, you suspect someone of being involved in corruption, follow the legal channels to charge them and allow them the opportunity to present their evidence. Based on the current situation, it seems someone can easily make a false accusation, and these individuals may come to your house with the intention of disgracing you,” she noted.
Abubakar appealed to the government to take decisive action to address and curb the violent and lawless acts, emphasising the importance of preserving the positive reputation Ghana has earned following the elections.
"I am appealing for us to uphold the positive image and feedback from the international media, which has described Ghana as the beacon of democracy after the elections, and put an end to the lawless acts and thuggery,” she added.
