My family is proud their family head has been elevated – NLA Boss

.
Director General for the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Mohammed Abdul-Salam has indicated that his family is proud of his elevation.

According to him, they are proud that as a family head, his status in society has been charged by the president of Ghana.

“I don’t need to ask an Imam. I am 53, and I am grown enough to make decisions for myself. I don’t need to ask any Imam. My family is happy that their family head has been elevated to a position of respect.”

To him, people who argue that he cannot occupy the position because he is a Muslim are people who have been contracted by those who wanted the position.

He is of the view that he was selected for his competence, and he intends to ensure he does his best to help the president of Ghana succeed as president.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Ustaz Ahmed Seidu, the Executive Secretary to the Ashanti Regional Chief Imams, has cautioned the former Northern Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mohammed Abdul-Salam, to reject his appointment as Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Lottery Authority (NLA).

According to him, per Islamic teachings, it is against their rules and regulations for a Muslim to associate with anything related to gambling; hence, he needs to desist from such a role.

“According to Islamic teachings, it is haram for a Muslim to gamble; it is against Islamic teachings, it is haram totally.

“The Quran has said that gambling is against our teachings, and you, as a Muslim, if you engage yourself in such activities, then it is something that I cannot understand. So, I will caution him to stop the work as quickly as possible because he is Alhaji.

“It will be an insult to the whole family for them to feed from lottery,” he said.
