The new plaque has the inscription, “Here lie the mortal remains of Professor John Evans Atta Mills, 21 July 1944 - 24 July 2013, President of the Republic of Ghana, 07 January 2009 - 24 July 2012.”

Although the plaque of the statue could be seen broken into pieces, the sculpture of the late Prof. Mills was intact and still standing.
It is not clear who removed the plaque, but Asomdwee Park is a state property, intended to be the resting place of the country’s presidents who pass on.
