‘We shall not entertain any arrogant appointees’ – NDC youth leader warns

.
The Deputy National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Osman Ayariga, has issued a strong caution to individuals expected to assume roles in the administration of President-elect John Dramani Mahama.

Ayariga’s remarks came during the party’s victory walk in Accra on Saturday, January 4, 2025, where jubilant supporters gathered to celebrate the NDC’s return to power.

Addressing the crowd, Ayariga underscored the critical need for appointees in the incoming government to maintain humility and a strong connection to the party’s grassroots base. His warning was a direct appeal to ensure that those entrusted with leadership roles avoid complacency and arrogance, which could alienate supporters and jeopardize the party’s renewed mandate.

“We won’t entertain any arrogant appointees,” Ayariga declared emphatically. “The youth will not stand for actions that risk taking the party back into opposition. We expect those chosen to serve to remain grounded, committed, and humble in their dealings.”

Osman Ayariga’s statement reflects a broader sentiment within the NDC for accountability and effective governance as the party prepares to take over the reins of power.

The youth, who played a pivotal role in mobilizing support for the NDC’s electoral success, are demanding appointees who embody the values of humility and service.

Ayariga highlighted the importance of ensuring that appointees stay connected to the grassroots, stressing that the government’s success would hinge on its ability to deliver on campaign promises and maintain unity within the party.

“Our victory is the result of hard work and sacrifice from everyone, especially the youth. We cannot afford to let arrogance or disconnect with the people undermine this achievement,” he added.

The victory walk not only celebrated the NDC’s electoral triumph but also reinforced the party’s commitment to staying connected to its grassroots supporters.
