The party boycotted the show in May 2020 after describing the host as a dictator and biased.

The NDC further claimed that all efforts to convince the producers and host of the program to replace the former NDC Central Regional Chairman, Allotey Jacobs, with a fair-minded NDC representative had proved futile. The party maintained that it continued to be treated with "utmost contempt," leading to its decision to boycott the show.
However, speaking on Peace FM on Monday, February 3, 2025, Kwami Sefa Kayi said five years was long enough for the boycott and called on the NDC to return to the program.
He expressed confidence that there was no longer an issue between both sides and urged the NDC to let bygones be bygones.
"Management and those of us working on this issue have had extensive engagements with the NDC, and at this point, I think there is no problem anymore. This is a new year. The NDC should let bygones be bygones, they should return so we can work together. At the end of the day, we need them, and they also need us. We have the biggest platform, and they are a formidable political party that is now in government, so we need each other. It is a symbiotic relationship, the left hand washes the right hand and vice versa. I believe there is no issue now."
Kwami Sefa Kayi then took responsibility for the impasse.
"As the head of the morning show, I take responsibility, and I know management will back me when I say we should apologize to each other so that both parties can work together again. I don't think that would be out of place.
"All I will say is that we have started a new year. It has been almost five years since the NDC boycotted Kokrokoo. So, we are extending an olive branch to them. The NDC should come back, and let us work together as we did in the beginning. As I said, as the leader of the morning show, I take responsibility for what happened, so let us move on."
I apologize unreservedly to the NDC - Kwame Sefa Kayi 😂
