Ministerial Vetting: How can you ask a Minister-designate to sing hymns? - Pratt blasts Appointments Committee

.
Kwesi Pratt Jnr., has taken a swipe at Parliament's Appointments Committee over some questions posed to ministerial appointees of President John Dramani Mahama who are currently being vetted.

The Committee has, in a live telecast, been assessing the appointees on their competence to execute the task given to them.

So far, Ministers-designate for Education, Lands, Finance, Ashanti Regional Minister and others have been vetted.

Commenting on the vetting during a "Kokrokoo" panel discussion programme on Peace FM, the seasoned journalist was not enthused by the conduct of some Committee members, accusing them of joking with the vetting.

Mr. Pratt touched on the questions that some of the Committee members pose to the appointees which, in his view, are unnecessary.

He cited an instance where a Minister-designate was asked to sing Methodist hymns questioning how relevant this is to the governance of Ghana.

"If the person comes before you and you tell him to sing Methodist hymn and he sings it, how does it address issues bordering on the welfare of Ghanaians?", he queried.

He advised the Committee to focus and ask questions bordering on national issues, not matters he considers "petty".

"The vetting is not about tweeting. It is not about Methodist hymns", he remarked.
