Mahama sets up eight-member team to plan National Education Forum

.
President John Dramani Mahama has appointed an eight-member committee to organise the National Education Forum, fulfilling his commitment to advancing Ghana’s education sector.

President Mahama, during his 2024 election campaign, promised to organise a national forum to seek ideas from the public on how best to improve the education sector, particularly the Free SHS policy.

The committee formed has been given two weeks to submit its report and plan.

Chaired by former Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Professor George K. T. Oduro, members include Professor Goski Alabi, Professor Rosemary Bosu, Samuel Awuku, Ph.D., and Professor Smile Dzisi.

The remaining are Kofi Asare, Stephen Owusu, and Inusah Shiraz.

The Planning Committee’s Terms of Reference (TOR) outline key objectives, including developing a guiding theme, identifying stakeholders across the education sector, and proposing an agenda with time allocations.

The committee is also tasked with selecting a venue and date for the forum, setting up a secretariat, and preparing a budget.

Furthermore, the committee will compile a comprehensive report detailing the forum’s findings and recommendations.

A draft national education policy framework and an action plan for implementing reforms are expected within three weeks of the forum’s conclusion.
