The move follows concerns over the chairmanship of the committee, which the Minority claims compromise the fairness and credibility of the probe.
In a memorandum addressed to the committee’s chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, Minority Leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin stated that the Caucus has formally petitioned Speaker Alban Bagbin to intervene.
They insist that until the Speaker responds, they will refrain from participating in the committee’s work.
The Minority emphasized that their withdrawal should not be misconstrued as a refusal to engage in the process. Rather, they argue it is necessary to ensure due process, fairness, and impartiality in the investigation. They expressed confidence that the Speaker will address their concerns to uphold the integrity of the committee and Parliament as a whole.
The memorandum was also copied to the Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business.
