I’m surprised NDC is still chasing more seats despite winning over 180 – Freddie Blay
.
In an interview on Accra-based Joy FM on December 24, 2024, Mr Blay expressed surprise at the NDC’s actions, which he suggested could escalate political tensions.
He said he was surprised that NDC has won over 180 seats, and still chasing after two, three seats,” Mr Blay said, questioning the rationale behind the opposition party’s continued push.
His comments come amidst disputes over parliamentary results and the NDC’s vow to ensure victory in certain contested constituencies.
Mr Blay cautioned against undermining legal processes, warning of potential chaos if court decisions and Electoral Commission (EC) rulings are disregarded.
“If justice is denied, can you imagine the chaos this country will run into?” he said, emphasizing the importance of respecting judicial and electoral outcomes.
He also highlighted the risks of disregarding democratic principles, using a hypothetical scenario to illustrate the potential consequences of forcing declarations without adhering to due process.
“If we’ve all voted, counted, and signed the pink sheets, and someone with a gun forces a declaration, chaos will ensue,” he warned.
Mr Blay called for calm and respect for Ghana’s democratic institutions, urging the NDC to prioritise stability over contesting additional seats.
