Everyone in the NPP gov’t became a sycophant—Kwadwo Mpiani
.
He says they looked on even when things were going bad but could not tell truth to power.
Kwadwo Mpiani blames this on the fact that the political party gave power to just one person and since everyone wanted to be in his good books, they could not say it to his face when things were wrong.
What’s even worrying, according to him, is the fact that people who could speak up were made outcasts and described as individuals who did not like the government and the president.
“Unfortunately for the party and government, when you express concerns, you become an outcast because they think you don’t like the president or the government; that is why you’re behaving that way.
From there, we went to the government. Government with executive powers more powerful than a party leader, so one would have thought that at that stage one would have thought that we would sit up to say, Let’s be careful of what we do, but it got to a stage where almost like we became sycophants, knowing things were not going well, but we allowed things to go on,” he said in an interview on Good Morning Ghana.
