Group raises concern over exclusion of PWDs in Mahama’s appointments

A group calling itself the Concerned NDC Disability Desk has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to fulfil his campaign promise of including Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in key positions of his administration.

President Mahama, prior to his election as president, pledged to among other things, champion inclusivity particularly among women and PWDs in his administration.


The group in an interview with Citi News, raised deep concerns about the exclusions of PWDs in the 42 out of 60 ministerial appointments announced so far and urged the President to swiftly address their concerns in his forthcoming appointments.Local event listings and tickets

“If you take the ministerial appointment that President Mahama intends to make, he said he is going to make 60 appointments. He has made 42. It is more than 50 percent and the cabinet has already been formed. If you take the political hierarchy in Ghana here, the cabinet is the highest.Ghanaian travel experiences


“And if you take the highest one, all the members of the cabinet have been appointed. If you critically look at the Affirmative Action Law, it is supposed to protect women and then the disabled. If you take the cabinet, women are there, but if you look at the disabled, 0.00 percent have been appointed, and this is something that we need to talk about
