In a video shared on X by DailyGraphic on January 25, 2025, the two statesmen were seen at the ‘high stage’, chit-chatting during the funeral.
Clad in black, they sat next to each other, engrossed in friendly conversations.
Although their discussions were not audible, they made hand gestures, seemingly emphasising points in their discussion.
This development has since sparked mixed reactions among netizens.
Some have expressed disapproval, arguing that it is inappropriate for Mahama to engage with individuals from the opposition, particularly Kufuor, who had publicly endorsed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the best candidate during the 2024 elections.
However, others have defended the interaction, seeing nothing wrong with the two leaders mingling at the funeral.
The funeral service for the late Madam Deborah Wengam took place on Saturday, January 25, at the Forecourt of the State House.
It brought together a large number of individuals, including clergy, government officials, and members of the Assemblies of God Church.
