Raid by military personnel on Ken Ofori-Atta’s home staged – OSP

.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has disclosed that the widely reported raid by alleged military personnel in uniform at the residence of former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, was staged by dubious individuals.

Addressing the press on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, to declare Ken Ofori-Atta a wanted fugitive, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng stated that the reported raid was orchestrated with the intent to create disaffection for the OSP and obstruct the ongoing investigations into him.

Kissi Agyebeng further emphasized that such attempts would not deter his office, assuring the public that the investigations would proceed as required by law.

“Our intelligence indicates that the purported raid on Ofori-Atta’s residence was staged or, at best, an impostor action intended to discredit the OSP and derail the investigation. The OSP will not be deterred by such occurrences, and the investigations will continue as prescribed by law,” he said.

Alleged Raid

A group of individuals dressed in military uniforms reportedly stormed the residence of former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a post on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, by Channel1 TV, the raid took place at his home in Cantonments while Ofori-Atta was reportedly out of the country.

Ken Ofori-Atta, an investment banker by profession, served as the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning in the cabinet of Nana Akufo-Addo from 2017 to 2024.

He was a co-founder of Databank Group, a Ghanaian financial services company, and served as executive chairman until 2012, when he resigned.

Ken Ofori-Atta was nominated by President Nana Akufo-Addo on January 10, 2017, and assumed office on January 27, 2017, as Minister of Finance.

On February 14, 2024, he was relieved of his position as Ghana’s Finance Minister by then-President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
